ASTM A106-19 covers seamless carbon steel pipe for high-temperature service, Grades A/B/C, NPS 1/8–NPS 48 — the standard high-temp carbon pipe spec for refineries, power plants and process piping (ASME SA106).
Mechanical & Performance Requirements
Grade A: TS 330 MPa / YS 205 MPa; Grade B: TS 415 MPa / YS 240 MPa; Grade C: TS 485 MPa / YS 275 MPa. Chemistry caps C 0.25/0.30/0.35%, Mn 0.90% max (Grade B 0.29–1.06%), P 0.035%, S 0.035%. Elongation with transverse deductions per wall thickness.
Dimensional Tolerances
OD and wall per ASTM A530 general requirements: OD ±0.4 to ±1%; wall −12.5% min wall (calculation-wall pipe: −0/+22%); straightness 1:600; cut-length tolerance per size class.
NDE & Hydrostatic Testing
100% hydrostatic test per Table X2 pressures (no leakage); NDE alternative per Section 14 (ultrasonic or eddy-current) with purchaser approval; flattening test on lots over NPS 2; transverse tension optional S2.
