DIN 30670 Polyethylene (3PE) Coating of Steel Pipes
DIN 30670 (1991, DVGW-aligned) specifies three-layer polyethylene external coating of steel pipes and formed parts: fusion-bonded epoxy primer + copolymer adhesive + PE top layer — buried pipeline corrosion protection..
Scope
DIN 30670 (1991, DVGW-aligned) specifies three-layer polyethylene external coating of steel pipes and formed parts: fusion-bonded epoxy primer + copolymer adhesive + PE top layer — buried pipeline corrosion protection.
Mechanical & Performance Requirements
Coating performance: minimum layer thicknesses by class (N = normal, R = reinforced: PE total ≥2.5/3.5 mm by pipe OD); impact resistance, indentation resistance, peel strength, electrical resistance (≥10⁸ Ω·m²), cathodic disbondment limits.
Dimensional Tolerances
Coating thickness min per class and diameter band; overlap and weld-seam buildup allowances; holiday (defect) limits per m².
NDE & Hydrostatic Testing
100% holiday (spark) testing; peel/adhesion tests per batch; indentation and impact per qualification; cathodic disbondment on qualification coupons.
