Scope
API Spec 5CT (10th Edition, 2018) covers seamless casing and tubing for oil and gas wells: grades H40, J55, K55, N80, L80 (incl. 9Cr/13Cr), C90, T95, C110, P110, Q125, in Group 1/2/3 with coupling stock and accessory material requirements.
Mechanical & Performance Requirements
Yield strength bands per grade (e.g. J55/K55: 379–552 MPa; N80: 552–758 MPa; P110: 758–965 MPa) with minimum tensile strength and minimum elongation; CVN absorbed-energy requirements for pipe, coupling stock and couplings; maximum hardness limits for L80/C90/T95/C110; hardenability and grain-size requirements for Q&T grades.
Dimensional Tolerances
OD and wall tolerances per Table 6.3 with tightened tolerances available by agreement; threaded connections gauged per API 5B; coupling dimensions per Table 8.4.
NDE & Hydrostatic Testing
Mandatory NDE of weld-free seamless bodies: ultrasonic and/or electromagnetic inspection for longitudinal/transverse imperfections per ISO 11496/13665 methods; hydrostatic test of every length or NDE alternative per grade; couplings: magnetic-particle inspection.
