ASME B36.10M Welded & Seamless Wrought Steel Pipe

ASME B36.10M-2004 defines dimensions (NPS 1/8–NPS 80, DN 6–2000) of welded and seamless wrought steel pipe, establishing standard nominal sizes, Schedule numbers (Sch 10/20/30/40/60/80/120/160/STD/XS/XXS), and mass per unit length..

Scope

ASME B36.10M-2004 defines dimensions (NPS 1/8–NPS 80, DN 6–2000) of welded and seamless wrought steel pipe, establishing standard nominal sizes, Schedule numbers (Sch 10/20/30/40/60/80/120/160/STD/XS/XXS), and mass per unit length.

Mechanical & Performance Requirements

Dimensional standard — mechanical properties are governed by the referenced material specification (e.g. ASTM A106, A53). The standard fixes the size/schedule framework used across carbon-steel piping codes.

Dimensional Tolerances

Outside diameter tolerances: NPS 1/8–1½: +0.4/−0.8 mm (1.6 mm max for over-size); NPS 2 and larger: ±1% of OD. Wall thickness: −12.5% of nominal wall (minimum-wall pipe) or as scheduled; out-of-roundness limits for thin-wall pipe.

NDE & Hydrostatic Testing

No NDE/hydro requirements of its own — inspection follows the applicable ASTM material specification; B36.10M supplies the dimensional verification basis.
