Scope
ASTM A213/A213M-19 covers seamless ferritic and austenitic alloy-steel boiler, superheater and heat-exchanger tubes: T5/T9/T11/T12/T22/T91/T92 (ferritic Cr-Mo) and TP304/316/321/347/310 (austenitic), minimum-wall and average-wall.
Mechanical & Performance Requirements
Per grade: T11 (1.25Cr-0.5Mo) TS 415 MPa / YS 205 MPa; T22 (2.25Cr-1Mo) TS 415 MPa / YS 205 MPa; T91 (9Cr-1Mo-VNb) TS 585 MPa / YS 415 MPa; TP304H TS 515 MPa / YS 205 MPa. Heat treatment specified per grade (e.g. T91: normalize ≥1040 °C + temper ≥1350 °F).
Dimensional Tolerances
Minimum-wall: +20%/−0; average-wall: ±10%; OD per A450 tight tolerances (±0.10 mm small sizes); hardness limits per grade (T91 max 250 HV).
NDE & Hydrostatic Testing
100% hydrostatic; NDE (ultrasonic E213 or eddy-current E309) mandatory for minimum-wall tube by default; flattening, flaring, flare-flattening tests per lot; grain size for austenitic H-grades.
