What is Coated Steel Pipe?
Coated steel pipes are protected against corrosion by applying specialized coating systems to the external and/or internal surface. The most common coatings include 3PE (three-layer polyethylene), FBE (fusion bonded epoxy), and cement mortar lining. These coatings significantly extend the service life of buried and submerged pipelines.
Our automated coating facilities operate 3PE, FBE, epoxy, and cement mortar coating lines capable of handling pipes from 2″ to 120″ OD. Every coated pipe undergoes rigorous holiday detection, thickness measurement, and adhesion testing before delivery.
Manufacturing Process
From pipe preparation to final inspection — every coating step ensures maximum corrosion protection.

Pipe Inspection
Incoming bare pipe inspected for dimensions, surface, and defects.

Surface Prep
Grit blasting to Sa 2.5 (near-white metal) surface preparation.

Pre-Heating
Pipe preheated to remove moisture and optimize coating adhesion.

FBE Primer
Fusion bonded epoxy primer applied by electrostatic spray (150-400μm).

Adhesive Layer
Hot-melt adhesive copolymer applied over FBE primer.

PE Top Layer
Extruded polyethylene or polypropylene top layer (1.8-3.7mm).

Water Cooling
Controlled water spray cooling to set and cure the coating.

Holiday Test
100% holiday (pinhole) detection at 5-25kV per coating standard.

Thickness Check
Coating thickness measured at 12+ points per pipe length.

End Beveling
Coating removed from pipe ends, beveled for field welding.
Our Coating Services
Complete range of internal and external anti-corrosion coating solutions for every application.
